Joel Hodges

Joel Hodges was raised among the hustle and bustle of downtown Augusta, GA. His music comes from a long family tradition. He grew up in a house filled with music, from his Dad’s piano playing to one of his sisters playing the flute or clarinet. And his Mom… now she could play a mean radio!! Listening to the radio with his Mom probably had the biggest influence into what would become the man you see on stage.
His formal training began fairly early in life. He tried his hand at guitar and then piano, but wasn’t real happy with either. So like his siblings, he joined the band as a wind player, taking up the trumpet. But during those years of trumpet playing, his heart was with the drums. Once out of his parent’s house, it was time to break free, and Joel perused his love of drums. And listening to all his Dad’s old jazz albums, top 40 radio, and progressive rock bands of the day, he began to find his grove.

Joel’s drumming has changed quite a bit over the last several years, recently blending more blues, jazz and old school rock together. His drumming style is now more of a signature sound, but with a visual effect on the audience that few drummers can achieve. His work is evident with Bleeding Counterfeit. This band is a fantastic mix of several very good friends, with completely different styles, that blend together to make one of the best blues based rock bands you will hear or see! They are now poised to make their mark on the Augusta music scene, and then take on the rest of the world!
